Trolling Motors For Sale Tips
Searching among trolling motors for sale is not an easy decision to make. There are different trolling motors making it even more difficult than supposed. Many customers just take advice from the salesmen. Yet later they become disappointed in their purchase.
The reason a trolling motor is so essential for a prosperous trip is because it allows the boat to move peacefully and effectively through the water. The customer gets the complete control of the boat. Trolling motors (electric positioning motors) use battery power (not fuel) to guide and power the boat along. There are many elements such as propulsion, voltage of battery, shaft length, bow or transom mount and foot/hand controls coming to a question when buying a quality trolling motor.
What demands must trolling motors for sale respond?
The thrust needed to power the boat depends on things such as boat weight, number of passengers, fishing gear amount, boat length etc. The more thrust is the better option. Yet sometimes too much thrust can be a disadvantage in the water.  Some experts recommend (under normal fishing conditions) about 36 pounds of thrust for a 15' boat and a 74 pounds for a 20 foot boat. Changed fishing conditions (rough water or else) demand higher amount of thrust.
There are 3 battery voltage systems available - 12, 24, and 36 volts. Higher voltage allows longer fishing trips and more thrusting power. A 12 volt battery with high thrust is suffice for a 16' boat. A bigger boats demand higher battery voltage.
There are two types of trolling motors a transom and a bow mount. They both have advantages or disadvantages. The bow mount trolling motors attach to the front of the boat via a mounting bracket or plate. It offers superior control and maneuverability than a transom mount. If the boat is larger than 14', a bow-mount trolling motor is a motor of choice. The transom mount trolling motors attach to the back of the boat. They practically “push” the boat.
Foot controlled trolling motors generally have a slower response. Yet they offer superior fishing experience. Hand control means a fisherman has to be on the front of the boat (with bow mount).
Shaft length depends on the mount type and distance to waterline. Shaft length refers to the distance from the transom bracket to the anti-ventilation plate just above the propeller. The boats between 15 and 17 inches require a short shaft trolling motor, 18 to 21 inches long shaft, and vessels up to 27 inches an extra long shaft.
